1. Complete the Pre-Installation
The pre-install function for Genshin Impact’s Version 2.5 is officially out. It’s available for both mobile and PC users. Pre-installation downloads some of the new resources in advance, which speeds up the download progress after the update goes live. With this, it’ll take much less time to login. Since Version 2.5 goes live on 16th February, it’s recommended that you complete the pre-installation in advance.
Dear Travelers,
To bring Travelers a better gaming experience, the developers will soon make a pre-installation function available on PC and mobile platforms.

The procedure to complete it is fairly simple. When you first open the Genshin Impact Launcher, there will be an option to begin the pre-installation. If you aren’t able to find the option, then follow these steps:
Step-1: Launch the game and Open the Paimon Menu
Step-2: Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Other’
Step-3: Click on ‘Pre-Install Resource Package’
2. Stock Up on Ascension Materials
Version 2.5 introduces Yae Miko – a new 5 star character and features reruns for Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi. If you’re planning on pulling for these characters or the 4 stars on their banners, it’s a good idea to pre-farm ascension materials. You can find character-specific ascension materials on websites like Honey Impact.
Since there is a limit to the amount of resin you can use per day, pre-farming helps a lot. If you wait until the character is out, it could take you weeks to collect all their materials. Even if you don’t know which character you’ll be pulling for yet, you can condense resin or stock up on general materials. These include:
- Hero’s Wit (Leylines – x20 Resin)
- Mora (Leylines – x20 Resin)
- Mob Drops (Open World Enemies)
- Open World Resources
3. Save Requests and Bounties for the New BP
Requests and Bounties usually refresh every Monday at the server reset. Most players usually finish them as soon as the reset happens. However, Version 2.5 will release on Wednesday. Along with it, a new BattlePass is also going to come out.
Two of the standard Weekly Missions on the BP are to:
- Complete 3 Bounties
- Complete 3 Requests
If you do them early, you’ll miss out on the EXP. So, in order to complete your weekly BP, it’s a good idea to save these requests and bounties until the new update is live.
4. Complete Prerequisite Quests
Genshin Impact’s Version 2.5 will introduce two new story quests – Raiden Shogun’s Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter: Act II and Yae Miko’s Divina Vulpes Chapter. You will need Story Keys to unlock these quests – which can be obtained by completing Daily Commissions. In addition, the quest unlock eligibility criteria also requires you to be Adventure Rank 40 or above.

If you meet the above criteria, you also need to make sure you’ve completed certain quests in-game. You’ll only be able to unlock the 2 new story quests after doing these prerequisite quests:
- Inazuma Archon Quest ~ Chapter II: Act III – Omnipresence Over Mortals
- Raiden Shogun’s Story Quest ~ Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter: Act I – Reflections of Mortality
5. Save Your Weekly Boss Reward Claims
In case you missed out on the livestream, there is a new weekly boss coming to Genshin Impact. Previews showed a new form of the Raiden Shogun that we’ll have to fight in the new update. We aren’t sure about the exact identity of this weekly boss yet – but it’s going to be a really interesting part of the lore.

The game only provides 3 chances to claim weekly boss rewards at a discounted price. If you use them all up early, you’ll need 60 resin to claim rewards from the new boss instead of 30. It’s also likely that you already have enough materials from the other bosses. So, stocking up on the new materials is important. Most new characters (including Yae Miko) will need the new weekly boss materials for talent ascension.
