PUBG Mobile x 28 Years Later: PUBG Mobile just went in a totally unexpected direction again. Now they joined up with the upcoming film 28 Years Later, which is from the same series as 28 Days Later. This is supposed to be a dark and scary kind of story, which somehow makes sense with PUBG’s survival theme. The collab has started rolling out already and it brings strange, even spooky changes to the game.

New Changes Make Game More Like Horror in PUBG Mobile x 28 Years Later

Since June 2025, PUBG Mobile has started putting stuff from 28 Years Later inside the game. So now, when you play on places like Erangel or Livik, the areas look really messed up—like movie sets. You’ll see abandoned checkpoints, blood in some places, and trucks that look broken down.

Some matches even happen in night time now, and the sounds got way more creepy. It really feel like a horror movie than regular battle royale. This might not be for everyone, but it does show how the devs want to make things more intense.

Clothes and Guns from the Movie

As expected, there’s also new clothes and weapons you can collect that are based on the film. Players can get a outfit called ā€œInfected Survivorā€ which looks torn up like the movie’s characters. There is also a skin for the M416 that is colored in red and black, looking like virus is spreading on it.

Other items like backpack and parachute also has scary themes. You can get them through a special 28 Years Later crate which is in the game only for a little time.

Survivor Hunt Mode is Something New

Probably the most different part is the new mode, named Survivor Hunt. In this, players will not only fight each other but also some infected monsters (they are AI-controlled). You have to survive many rounds, find supplies and hold certain areas on the map.

The lights are low, you can’t see far, and suddenly enemies jump out. If your team stays alive till the end, you’ll get rewards like exclusive emotes or icons, only for this collab.

Tie-In With Movie Promotion

It looks like the devs did this collab to match with the July 2025 cinema release of 28 Years Later. In the game, you can even see movie trailers and some behind-the-scenes clips inside the Event Center.

After collabs with Godzilla, Arcane and even Dragon Ball, this one feels much more serious and darker. PUBG seems to be trying new vibes.

Final Words

This new event isn’t just fun cosmetics, it kind of shifts the whole game mood. People who like movie stories and spooky stuff will probably enjoy it more. And if not, there’s always the regular classic mode.
