Genshin Impact: Version 2.5 will release on 16th February. It is set to bring new characters, weapons, quests, events and much more to the game. It is a filler update, but has a lot of new content that players can complete. Genshin Impact’s official Twitter account recently provided details about the pre-installation and main update.
What Time Will the Update Happen?
The maintenance for Genshin Impact’s Version 2.5 update will start at 06:00 (UTC+8) on 16/02/2022. Estimates suggest that it will take around 5 hours to complete the maintenance.
During these 5 hours, servers will be down. Hence, players will not be able to log in to the game while the update maintenance is in progress.
In case you’re in the middle of a quest or other content when servers go down, you may lose your progress. So, keep the maintenance time in mind while starting any new content in game.

How to Complete the Update?
Here is how to complete the update for Version 2.5 on various platforms:
- PC: Open the Genshin Impact Lancher > Click Update
- Android (Mobile): Go to the Google Play Store > Click Update OR Open the game and follow the directions on-screen
- iOS (Mobile): Go to the App Store > Click Update
- PS4/PS5: Highlight Genshin Impact in the Home Screen > Click ‘OPTIONS’ > Select ‘Check for Update’
Compensation Rewards:
Players will receive 300 Primogems for the update maintenance. This is essentially 60 primogems for every hour that servers are down. However, there will be no change to the amount even if the maintenance is completed early.
In addition, Genshin Impact also usually sends 300 Primogems to compensate for Issue Fixes in the previous update as soon as the new one launches. Hence, you can expect to get 600 Primogems in total.
All rewards will be sent via the in-game mail system. They will expire in 30 days, so don’t forget to claim your rewards before that!
