Every NCP has different options available during an interaction, and specific weapon upgrades are with certain NPCs, so in order to get the desired weapon upgrades, players need to choose the correct NPC.

  • Kondor – Misty Meadows
  • Reese – Dirty Docks
  • Fishstick – Craggy Cliffs
  • Fishstick – Coral Castle
  • The Reaper – Sweaty Sands
  • Sparkplug – Gas Station north of Slurpy Swamp
  • Kit – Catty Corner
  • Beef Boss – Durr Burger
  • Tomato Head – Pizza Pit north of Colossal Coliseum
  • Brutus – Dirty Docks

The players need to look for these NPCs in the game and interact with them. While interacting, players have to use the upgrade option. The prompt will show up with proper information if the weapon upgrade is possible and players can exchange gold bars for the desired weapon upgrades.

The weapon upgrade in gold bars will cost the users according to the level or tier of upgrade and rarity of the weapon. The upgrades are categorized into four tiers namely:

  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Legendary

The number of Gold Bars required as per the tier of an upgrade in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 will cost the players:

  • Uncommon- 50 Gold Bars
  • Rare- 150 Gold Bars
  • Epic- 250 Gold Bars
  • Legendary- 350 Gold Bars

The newly added Gold Bars system to Fortnite needs players to earn Gold Bars within the game while playing. There are many ways to earn them. The most interesting way is to earn bounty in the form of Gold Bars by killing some other players which will be provided by the NPCs. The bounty amount for this will be 70 Gold Bars.

Apart from bounties, other common ways to earn Gold Bars include opening chests, destroying furniture, and looting crates of other players. These Gold Bars can be carried over games by the players for their use in weapon upgrades in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5.
