Apex Legends is an online Battle-Royale game where players go up against one another in a bid to be named Apex Champions. Season 9 brought a ton of new content to the game which is probably why the game’s concurrent player record was smashed on Steam. One of the biggest changes brought about in Season 9 is the addition of the 3vs3 Arenas mode. This mode puts two teams of three players up against one another onis smaller maps.
If you are tired of Arenas challenges, good news.
In Season 12, Respawn are introducing dailies and weeklies that can be completed in any mode.

They need to face off against one another in rounds and the round will be won by the team that eliminates the other. The team that gathers the most wins will be named the overall champions. With the new Arenas mode becoming such a hit. There are a few helpful tips players need to know that may just help them win.
What Is Apex Legend’s New Arenas Mode?
Arenas mode is Apex Legend’s version of a 3vs3 PvP mode. Your trio will go against another trio in smaller maps that are different from the ones in the main game. Whoever wins the most rounds in that session will become the champion squad.
The maps have been inspired by or have been taken from previous maps and long-time fans will be able to recognize most of them. The maps themselves are on rotation so they are constantly changing over small periods. Not only does this keep the mode fresh but it gives you a chance to get a feel for all of the map types.
The Arena Mode Purchase Screen In Apex Legends

When you start a match you get to pick which Legend you want to play as. As soon as you have done this. You’ll be taken into the pay or purchase screen. Don’t worry it’s not real-world money or even your Apex currencies that are used here. You get a small designated amount to spend in the shop to purchase the weapons that you want to use for that round.
You only get a limited amount of time on this screen, so you need to be decisive.
In the center of the screen, you will have all of the guns displayed that you currently have enough money to buy:
Off to your left, there will be a few different options. The first one is purchasing an ability unique to your Legend or purchasing extra uses of an ability:
The other options will be for tools that you can use throughout the match, such as Shield Cells and Syringes:
Right at the bottom of the screen, you will see how much you have to spend for that round:
You can increase this allowance by finding Crafting Materials. There are usually only 1 or 2 on each map so if you go here. You could easily be targeted but the risk is worth the reward.
Make sure you pick a weapon you’re familiar with, this can help give you the edge over the opposition. At the start of each round, you will be given slightly more to be able to spend at the shop.
How The Arena Mode Matches Work In Apex Legends

An Arenas match works the same way as the Battle Royale matches. You need to work as a team to find and eliminate the other team. It’s kill or be killed but the stakes are much higher because you have less room for error. When you have wiped out all of the members of the enemy squad, your squad will win that round and be sent back to the purchase screen to get ready for the next round.
The rounds can be few or many, it all depends on how you play. If one squad dominates and wins every round. Then the match will end with them as the Champions. However, if both squads are equally as good and performance is very even then the game will go on for longer.
After a time, the game will take over if there is no clear winner and put you into sudden death. The same rules apply here but whoever wins this round is the ultimate winner.
Helpful Tips That You Need To Know Before Playing Apex’s Arena Mode
These tips will help you get the most out of arena mode.
Artillery Map – Get The Higher Ground
Artillery is one of the several maps in rotation for the Arenas mode. The breakdown of the map is that it is in Kings Canyon and a favorite drop spot in the main game. This particular map has such a small area that it is easy to get trapped.
This map seems to be kinder to those who stick to the higher ground. There are plenty of ziplines for you to make your way around the higher areas so there is no need to worry about getting stuck. By taking the higher ground, you’ll have a better chance of spotting the enemy team and potentially pinning them in the areas below for easy kills.
Pay Attention To The Buy Screen
An important thing to remember about the purchase screen is to pay attention. To what is available and carefully consider if the upgrades will be beneficial.
There’s no point in spending all of your materials maxing out the upgrades on a weapon just for the sake of it. It can be more beneficial to the team to think tactically about getting medical syringes or shield cells that will keep the group in the game longer.
Bloodhound Can Be A Bonus
Bloodhound is considered to be one of the best characters to have in a team for arenas because of its abilities. Their passive ability means that they can see clues relating to where the enemy team has been. Which can help you figure out where your opponents might be currently. As the arena maps are considerably more intimate than the larger maps for the Apex Games, Bloodhound’s tactical ability is effective here.
They can scan the area for enemies and if their scanner picks any up. It will highlight them for the rest of the team to see. Although the scanner can give away that your team has found the enemies. It is a huge help to know where everyone is. This can avoid potential ambush attacks from the other team.
Keep Enemies Guessing
It may be tempting to consistently return to the same spot on the map if you have won there previously. However, Arenas requires teams to think more carefully about their decision-making. Getting away with being hit and then running away may work in the main game but the arena maps have little room for error.
By returning to the same spot again, you could be setting yourself up for a fall as this can make your team’s moves predictable. This will give the enemy team the upper hand which will be devastating in a match that will decide the winning team.
Think Carefully
The 3vs3 Arenas mode is the definition of kill or is killed. Those that want to win should think about their enemies. If you lose a round then it is a brilliant chance to learn from it and prepare yourself for the next one. When you are killed in the game by enemies. There will briefly be a death summary that appears on the screen. Which tells you who you were killed by and what weapon they were using.
It may be easier for experienced players to recognize the weaponry by its silhouette shown on this death screen. If someone can figure it out then they can choose a weapon before the next round that may match or overpower it.
Quick Re-Loads
It goes without saying that when up against an enemy team. The speed of your weapon reloads can win or lose the match. A powerful gun like the Mastiff has a slow reload that makes it useless against a faster weapon like the Spitfire.
Battles between the two teams in this mode move very fast. The best option for those who want to partake in close-quarters combat is to choose a weapon that is the best of both worlds. One that has a fast reload speed and does quite a hefty amount of damage is the Devotion. However, if you are choosing to take a ranged combat approach to the Arenas mode, reload speeds may not matter as much.
Use a Familiar Gun
You should use a weapon that you are familiar with. By being comfortable with the gun, you will have a better chance of being able to skillfully use it in the middle of battle. Accuracy and skill are very important in 3v3 modes as the teams are focused on one another.
If someone on the opposing team is using a gun they are experts with while you are a beginner at yours. It is more likely the enemy will win as they know all the tricks to their weapon. Also, familiarity with a weapon means you can choose the most appropriate upgrades in the buy menu.
Use a Familiar Legend
All of the Legends in the game have their skills and unique abilities that can be used to turn the tides of battle. However, these abilities are useless if you don’t know how to use them. Some Legends such as Bangalore are better for offensive attacks while others like Lifeline excel in defensive attacks.
Who you pick will determine how you will need to approach the battle. The Legend that you choose will be the one that you will use throughout all of the rounds of that battle, so they must think carefully about who you select and the overall team composition.
Keep Playing
All gamers know that it can be extremely frustrating if you do not win the first, second, or even the thirteenth time you try a new game. It may be a seriously over-used phrase but practice does make perfect. The new Arenas mode is no different. It will take time to get used to the new map layouts and the rules of the mode.
Over time, you will gradually get better as you figure out what works and what doesn’t. The more someone practices. The easier it will be for them to form their strategies about how to win.
Work As A Team
Working as a unit may seem like an obvious tip in a game based on teams battling against teams but sometimes it is forgotten. Many Apex Legends fans have encountered times when a teammate decided to go off and do their own thing. This pretty much always results in the team losing rather quickly. The same rule applies in the Arenas.
The 3vs3 mode will eat a team alive if they do not work together. If one team has a unified trio while the other consists of just individuals, the former will inevitably win.
