In this article, we will be checking out Lost Ark and its latest boss raid. Lost Ark has just introduced its players to the most complex Legion Raid to date, so we have compiled a guide so our readers can enter this raid prepared. This guide will provide some insight on all three phases of the Vykas Raid and how to complete the first phase successfully. This Legion Raid has been split into three phases, with Vykas first introduced in the Lost Ark June update. She is an essential part of crafting a complete set of Relic Gear.
Compared with the recent Valtan encounter, this Legion Raid is considered twice the difficulty. Players must rely heavily on their coordination, precession, and teamwork. Any mistakes within this raid can prove to be fatal. Luckily, with hard work comes great rewards, as the completion of the raid brings with it the complete Relic Set as well as a solid amount of gold and relic accessory rewards. Now that we are up to date with what we face, let’s get into it.
Much like the Valtan raid, the sidereal mechanic is included throughout, with the introduction of some new ones. That said, it is essential that players come to the raid prepared and armed with the correct items and the knowledge of where to position themselves. So firstly, let’s take a look at Sidereals.
Sidereals
Sidereals remain consistent throughout this Legion raid, meaning those used in phase one will be seen throughout the attack.
Nineveh – Deals damage and denies buffs such as shields; this can be useful in later phases. They are often used by the party with the lowest DPS or those fighting tankier boss demons.
Wei – Used for significant stagger, which can be used in the first phase, but is not recommended as it is relatively easy to complete.
Arena/Innana – Defensive purposes, reducing the damage taken by the party while slightly healing everyone in it. However, in phase one, no mechanics can be dodged using this Sidereal, so keeping it for later phases is recommended.
Now we have established the Sidereals used, let’s look at the items and cards needed.
Items
There are some essential items players must enter the arena within each of the three phases. Some are referred to in more than one of the phases, so players must ensure that they stock up before taking on this task; they can buy Lost Ark accounts ready-made for events such as these, ready to take on any boss.
Phase One
HP Potion
Whirlwind/Clay Grenade (Stagger check for 36 and 13HP)
Timestop Potion (Helpful for avoiding specific attacks)
Speed Mantle (optional – used for juggling orbs)
Phase Two
HP Potion
Panacea/Splendid Panacea (Splendid for orb mechanic 65HP)
Timestop Potion (Same reasoning as Phase 1)
Dark/Flame Grenade
Phase Three
HP Potion
Timestop Potion (essential for stagger check at 102 HP)
Sleep Bomb (vital in dealing with seduction gauge)
Whirlwind Grenade (necessary for stagger, especially at 1HP)
Cards
Cards are another essential aspect of this Vykas Legion Raid; ensuring they are part of a player’s inventory is an absolute must. Should players find themselves without the necessary cards, they can use gold to buy crystals, which can then be exchanged for cards. Players with an empty bank account can buy Lost Ark Gold to assist their gameplay.
Phase One
Phase one is the only phase that is not weak to holy damage, so we recommend the following:
Use Lostwind Cliff (Awakening 12 or more) or Field Boss Set (for extra HP), and avoid Light of Salvation unless it is Awakening 18 or higher.
Phase Two
This second phase is the first Legion Raid boss to be weak to light damage, meaning we recommend Light of Salvation (at least Awakening 12)
Phase Three
Since Vykas is weak to Holy damage, stick with the Light of Salvation; failing that, using Lostwind Cliff or the Boss HP set will also work.
Positions
Phase One
For the best outcomes, players must ensure they have thought out the formation their party will use in the raid before entering. These formations will be relied upon heavily in the mechanics at 48, 36, and 13HP. Our recommendation for the best positions is to imagine the arena as a clock face and have two players from each party position themselves at 1,5,7, and 11. This should offer the best advantages throughout the raid.
Phase Two
For the second phase of this raid, there are two different positioning players will need to use, one for each of the two wipe mechanics encountered—one at 120 HP and the second at 65 HP.
120 HP – Five players should position themself in a plus (+) formation in the center of the arena. The remaining three should place themselves at the 3,7,11 o’clock positions.
65 HP – Players must enter a new formation for this second mechanic. Two players at 11, 3 at 5 o’clock, and 3 at 7. Players should ensure they are in tune with the rest of their part by making a
note of which player is at each position, i.e., 5-1,7-1,11-1, etc.
Phase Three
In the final phase of this Legion raid, positions are not as complex as the first two. As well as being simplified, positions will only be needed for the mechanic at 55 HP. Four players take to the left side of the arena, and the remaining four take the right, forming the two parties.
The Battle Itself
Phase One
Once the battle begins, the two parties will become separated; one fighting the demon boss, the other the human. Though these two bosses use the same attacks, there is one glaring difference players must watch out for. The human boss attack can be dodged by avoiding the hit marker. At the same time, the attack that the demon boss deals will see players needing to stand in the attack zone, as this is the actual safe zone.
48HP Wipe Mechanic – Orbs and Doors
The mechanics at 48 and 36 HP are the most difficult parts of phase one, more so the 48HP mechanic. At this stage, players fighting the demon boss will continue to do so without the complex mechanic that those battling the human boss now have to face.
The human boss will teleport to the center and summon a white circle around it. Players should then take the positions mentioned earlier, ensuring they are all within the circle. Once the boss has detonated its explosive attack, players can distance themselves from the boss.
This is where it becomes a far more complicated task for players. Following the explosion, four orbs will appear at the players’ positions, as will four doors appear slightly closer to the edge of the arena. The orbs constantly change color, going between blue, white, green, red, and black. For example, the doors at the 1 and 7 o’clock positions accept only green or red orbs, whereas the 5 and 11 doors accept blue or white. Players must then ensure they get the orbs into their corresponding doors before they complete the following color transition cycle twice: red, blue, green, white, and black. Failing to do so will mean the party is wiped.
36HP Step wipe mechanics
Much like the 48HP mechanics, those battling the demon boss will continue to do so while the party fighting the human boss faces yet another challenge. Going into the second mechanic of phase one, the boss will teleport Grenades; they should be able to quickly complete this without the use of the Wei sidereal. Once again, players must take their positions of 1,5,7, and 11 on a clock face. Each player will then find themselves with either a blue or black orb above their head. There will then appear four auras; at the 1 and 7 mark, they will be black, while 5 and 11 will be blue. Players must then take a position with the aura corresponding with their orb color.
Now comes the difficult part, the auras will rotate four times, whether anticlockwise or clockwise. Remember the rotation pattern as this gives the players a complete insight before the mechanic begins. Keeping the pattern in mind, each player must watch as the orbs spawn and follow the pattern to complete this step. Each player should collect five orbs to succeed.
To finish up, the human boss will make one final telegraphed attack that will target either inside or outside the arena. This attack won’t affect the party fighting this boss. While this is happening, the demon boss will teleport in and start charging their lethal attack. During this, there will be no visible safe zone, though it will be the safe zone that was referred to in the human boss attack. This means it is on the party taking on the human boss to inform the other which area is safe by using the raid chat to type ‘in safe/out safe.’
30HP To The Death
Once the bosses have reached 30HP, the parties will switch sides. When battling the demon boss at this point, we recommend using Nineveh sidereal to reduce the time waiting for the demon boss to reach 30 HP. At 25 HP, the human boss will spawn four large circles. Referring back to the clock face, these circles will appear at 3,6,9, and 12 o’clock. Of these four, three will be black, and one white; the party tackling the human boss will be tasked with informing those battling the demon boss which circle is white. This information is critical as the demon boss will then mimic this mechanic with all circles appearing black. Those opposing the demon boss must then enter the circle which appeared white in the human boss battle.
Making our way to the end of this Legion raids the first phase, at 13HP, the new human boss party will face the same challenges that their other teammates did at 36HP. Edging ever closer to the sweet taste of victory, at 5HP, both bosses will become increasingly more hostile and dangerous. Their attacks will grow faster and more robust, with the additional struggle of being able to take neither down until the other falls. Should players struggle to take down a boss, the other will remain at 1HP until the other falls to that level. At which point, both will die, granting the parties a win.
This concludes the first phase of the Vykas Legion Raid; we hope our readers have found this guide to provide sufficient assistance in their pursuit of victory against Vykas in the first phase of the raid and leave them feeling well prepared for the subsequent two phases.
