Cricket 2022 Review: A Winning Bat or A Disappointing Miss?

Cricket 2022 Review

Cricket 22 is the new sports video game. Cricket 22 is a game by Big Ant Studios and has been published by Nacon. So, if your thirst for cricket isn’t quenched by online betting, you can play this cricket game for fun and entertainment. It is a sequel to 2019’s Cricket 19. Even though it has a smaller budget than NBA 2K or FIFA, it has included different features and leagues in the game.

Graphically, the game appears to be off the pace in comparison to its competitors. But this is not the only area where the games fall short. It is a slow game and can never give you the arcade feel that other sports game offers. However, if you bat in the short forms, it gets a little close.

Game of Cricket 22

The gameplay in the new version has been improvised from the older version. In this version, the fielding and bowling have been overhauled by including arcade-style gameplay using an after-touch system. So, the player gets to control the ball’s direction after they have already bowled. In addition, this time, the developers have given the game a more realistic feel. In fact, they have simulated real-life conditions during bowling.

Swing bowlers use the wind’s direction while bowling to induce better swing or movement on the ball. It helps them to confuse the batter and bowl them out. With the after-touch system, the developer has been able to simulate this experience.

They have also used the much-needed Direct Hit system. These players are much fitter than they used to be back in the time. Hence, it has improved fielding to a great degree. It has led to more hits on stumps.

Big Ant Studio has Included a Career Mode

Any sports game without a career mode feels incomplete. The good thing is Cricket 22 also has a Career mode, just like NBA 2k22, FIFA 22, and other games belonging to the same genre. This is a significant improvement from the game’s previous version. This version primarily focuses on the narration by the characters who are going to guide the game’s players to glory. Players have to choose a manager from the outset, customize it, and then begin training.

So, as you progress through the career mode, you get to attend press conferences that are necessary since it helps enhance the relationship of the players with the media. At times, the player’s relationship with the media can be a little controversial, and the reporters might go a little out of their line while asking questions. The in-game experience imitates the real-life scenarios you get to see in a press conference.

New Tournaments

The developer has added new leagues and tournaments to turn up the fun factor. All the latest events in the game are going to include regional fans. This year they had added the Caribbean Premier League and The Hundred.

The former game is a classic T20 tournament featuring all franchises, while the latter is a 100-ball every innings 8-team tournament based in Wales and England. But the exclusion of the Indian Premier League comes as a disappointment. The tournament lets players experience challenges, emotions, and adrenaline rush.

But the commentary in the game is a letdown. It improved in comparison to the previous version but it isn’t that real and immersive in comparison to the real-life commentary.

Graphics in Cricket 22

Big Ant Studio tried making Cricket 22 more visually appealing, but they failed to succeed. Sure, the visuals look a little better in comparison to the last version, but it is nothing extraordinary, particularly when you compare them to the other sports games.

The cricket game offers ray tracing support. Also, it has a faster loading time. According to the players, Xbox Series X was able to run this game at 4K Ultra HD with more than 60 frames every second. Its PlayStation version can match this result since the configuration matches the PCs’ horsepower.

Tutorials

Cricket 22’s tutorials have been pretty informative. Both bowling and batting aspect has been explained thoroughly and has been done in different routines. Thus, it can help players to get used to the game’s new mechanics. This is how they have made the game’s career mode more enjoyable. If any player has preordered the game, they will be able to test out the game using its Net Challenge feature.

With Net practices, you can get familiar with bowling and bating features, such as timing, footwork, inswing, shot choice, spin bowling, and a lot more. In addition, the game’s AI has many difficult settings to set up with that favors newbies, as well as veterans.

Bottom Line

All in all, the game can provide a good cricket game experience to the players. It has good controls, and its Career mode is worth playing.
