Microsoft xCloud is Rolling Out to iPhone, Android, PCs

Microsoft’s xCloud, the game streaming component of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is rolling out fully to iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads, as well as PCs and macOS computers via the web.

Finally, the Microsoft xCloud service is now available on iPhones, MacBooks, iPad, PCs, Android phones. On Monday, Microsoft announces that the cloud gaming service is going to be rolling out to compatible devices.

So, if your device has the hardware requirements for xCloud, then you can definitely play Xbox games on it, with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription of course.

Furthermore, the xCloud service is an invite-only service and Microsoft has now rolled it out to 22 countries.

Now, can you play all the Xbox games? Essentially, yes. As cloud gaming doesn’t require specific hardware, a large number of devices can access it and the games. You will be able to play Xbox games on browsers like Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, etc.

However, these games will be a part of the cloud gaming category and will be under the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It will also support iPhones and iPads and you can access xCloud through the Safari browser. As far as game controls go, Microsoft is saying that players will have the option to choose between a controller or touch controls.

Catherine Gluckstein, Vice President & Head of Product of Xbox Cloud Gaming, in the announcement said:

“With billions of active Windows 10 PCs, iOS devices, and Android phones. We want you to have new opportunities to play the deepest, most immersive games whenever and wherever you choose. Simply put, we’re bringing the Xbox experience directly to the devices you use most.”

This service will provide the availability of 100 games to be played and you can use touch controls or play with Bluetooth or USB controllers. These games are powered by powerful custom Xbox Series X hardware so that players will be able to stream games at 1080p at up to 60fps.

Additionally, a very good internet connection is required for this. The company’s recommending speed is that it must be at least 10Mbps with a 5GHz frequency. To be able to play the xCloud games at their very best. The streaming is maxed at a maximum 1080p resolution for now.

Although, more features are going to be add by Microsoft so it is possible that we will get 4K at 60fps in the future. The availability of Microsoft’s xCloud gaming service in India is yet to be announce, but the company is going to roll it out in the future since the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is available here.
