Team Secret’s Challenging VCT Kickoff

Team Secret, the Filipino squad, experienced a wave of disappointment when they departed from the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2024 Pacific Kickoff sooner than anticipated. Despite their best efforts, they landed in fifth place after the Play-In stage of the tournament on Thursday, February 22. Team Secret pulled off an impressive comeback, defeating Talon Esports 2-0 in a decisive match to secure their spot in the Play-Ins after being defeated by them previously.

Team Secret’s Start at the Group Stage

During the Play-Ins, Team Secret embarked on a formidable challenge, going head-to-head against South Korean powerhouse Gen.G and the skilled Japanese squad ZETA Division in a round-robin format. Their goal? To secure a spot in the Playoffs. In their first encounter with Gen.G, Team Secret showcased their dominance, leaving no room for doubt as they triumphed over their opponents with an impressive 13-5 score on Breeze. However, Gen.G proved to be no pushover, fiercely fighting back in the second game at Lotus and managing to even the series with a 13-9 score.

Despite their best efforts, neither Team Secret nor ZETA Division managed to secure a spot in the Playoffs. It was Gen.G who emerged triumphant in their match against ZETA Division, leaving both teams disappointed. Team Secret finished their journey in fifth place, just falling short of advancing further in the tournament. Nevertheless, they will receive a consolation prize of US$15,000 for their hard work. Similarly, ZETA Division exited the competition in sixth place, earning US$5,000 for their commendable efforts.
