Spiderman Remastered: Gameplay, Specifications, And More

Marvel's Spider-man

Back when it was first released in 2018, Spider-man was heralded as the ‘best comic book video game’ adaptation yet. It was developed by Insomniac Games. Of the Spyro the dragon and Ratchet and Clank series’ fame. The story not only borrows influences from the rich lore and mythology of the comics but other adaptions like the film as well. On the whole, critics praised the most original narrative.

Spider-man is a 3rd person action-adventure title. With a free-roaming fictionalized version of New York, that you can explore. On the mechanical side, the main focus is on web-slinging traversal and hand-to-hand combat. Along with some light stealth and puzzle bits. You can alternatively use the subway system to fast travel, should the web-slinging not be up your alley.

Spider-man Gameplay:

Alongside exploration, you’ll be meeting NPC(nonplayable characters), embarking on quests, completing objectives, and unlocking gizmos and suits which can grant you different abilities(Like a bulletproof suit). Besides the main campaign, there are also side quests you can take part in, unlocking additional content as you go.

The combat takes cues from the Batman Arkham Series and is free-flowing if a little prone to button-mashing. What sets the combat in Spider-man apart from others(including Assassin’s Creed) is the ability to interact with the environment. You can use objects such as shelves, scaffolding, newsstands, and even manhole covers(!) to your advantage. True to form ol’ Spidey doesn’t kill anyone. So apart from being non-lethal, there are also incidental animations like a web-cocoon being deployed to break the baddies’ fall(If they’re falling from a skyscraper!)

A Facelift:

Now the game is set to web sling its way onto PC. Following the remastered PS5 port which was released back in November of 2020. A host of new graphical features will be ushered in. Including Ray Traced Reflections(with adjustable quality). Support for Nvidia’s DLSS and DLAA will also be incorporated. Lastly, there are SSAO, LOD(Level of Detail) quality, texture filtering, and shadow quality options as well.

There is also going to be support for 4K and up resolutions(though you will need a pretty beefy rig to get stable framerates). As far as aspect ratio goes, you have your standard widescreen, ultra-wide, panoramic, and Nvidia’s Surround multi-monitor setup.

If you have a PS5 controller lying around, it will work out of the box without any plugins or mods. Mouse and keyboard support is pretty standard. Button inputs can be remapped if you purchase the game on steam. There’s a good deal more in the form of achievements, cloud saving, and a raft of accessibility features.
