Shroud has been one of the most popular esports players in recent years, largely due to his background in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Recently, he’s picked up Valorant and seems interested in fielding his team.
According to a recent article, Shroud has been in talks with numerous organizations regarding the formation of a Valorant squad. There’s no indication who they are, but it’s obvious that Shroud is interested in the game and its competitive scene.
Although it’s still early on, Valorant is one of the most beloved first-person shooter games globally. If Shroud did create his team, that would be a giant win for the game and its competitive scene. Only time will tell if something comes from this eventually, but it’d be superb to see Shroud return to playing competitively again.
Rumours
The rumours were true after all. Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek is establishing his own VALORANT team, as the rumors suggested. He’s well-known for his time in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), but he’s also played with VALORANT since it launched last June. It turns out that being a VALORANT Champion Tour champion was enough to persuade him to return from retirement.
Shroud Starting His Own Valorant Team
Although Michael “shroud” Grzesiek’s time on Sentinels was brief, it likely won’t be the last we see of him in professional Valorant. With the confirmation that the VCT 2023 season’s Americas league will be hosted in Los Angeles, the shroud has a chance to compete again or even rejoin Sentinels.
For a while now, users have been eagerly anticipating Shroud’s return, and during his most recent stream, he explained why he chose this moment to come back. It turns out that he was waiting for the new in-game character known as Kay/O to be released.
As a powerful VALORANT player, Shroud has assembled his own team of Avengers which includes himself, Timmy “iiTzTimmy” An, Skyler “Relyks” Weaver. Leonardo “Laski” Arroyo, and Shawn “ShawnBM“. With both Relyks and Laski being former CS:GO players and Cloud9 alumni, their rivals should be very afraid.
Team Members
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Shroud in the esports world, but he’s back now and eager to compete. He is now a member of the Old Guys Club, and they are all ready to participate in the NA open qualifier for a possible $50,000 prize pool. This will be an entertaining event to watch, and we can’t wait to see if Shroud has what it takes to compete at the top level yet again.
Shroud, currently sitting in third place on Twitch after Ninja and Tfue, was a professional CS:GO player before he turned to streaming full-time. His last team was Cloud9, although he remained with the organization even after his 2017 retirement as merely a streamer.
In the past year though, Shroud has been playing and streams a variety of games–though his focus seems to have migrated back onto Valorant recently. On one recent stream in particular, Shroud talked about some of his competitive plans for Riot Games’ newest title.
Shroud’s fans want him to go back to competitive CS:GO, but the streamer has other ideas. He wants to try and get a team up and running in one of the upcoming Valorant Champions Tour open qualifiers “just for fun.”
