SEGA has announced they are going to release a new game called SEGA Football Club Champions 2025. It will be a free-to-play football management game that comes to PlayStation 4 and 5, PC, Android and iOS. While this may sounds like something new, it’s actually based on an older Japanese game that used to be popular mainly in Japan. The old game was called J.League Pro Soccer Club o Tsukurou! or simply SakaTsuku. SEGA now wants to bring that concept for wider audience, more outside Japan this time.
A Game What Was From the 90s: SEGA Football Club Champions 2025
This series began in 1996 on the Sega Saturn. It become quite known in Japan, with more than 20 games made since then. But most people in the West probably never heard of it, except maybe the one time it was released for PlayStation 2 in 2006, under name Let’s Make a Soccer Team!, which was not too successful. So now SEGA is try to make that old style popular again but updated for today’s gamers, especially those who like managing and strategy.
Includes Football Manager Kind of Features
The new version will have influences from SEGA’s other famous game Football Manager, which is very detailed and for hardcore fans. So expect Football Club Champions 2025 to include training, transfers, tactics and more. The game will have more than 10,000 players, including licensed ones from different leagues. There’s Japanese leagues J1, J2, and J3, plus South Korean K League and also European teams like Manchester City. It’s going to be wide selection, giving players many ways to make their own club how they want.

Beta Test Coming in June
Before the full game releases, SEGA is doing a closed beta test. This test will happen between June 19 to June 30, 2025. Anyone can try to sign up, but only until June 13. However, only 15,000 people will be chosen, so not everyone will get chance. The beta is for testing things out, like if the gameplay works and if there’s bugs. Players who get in will be helping shape the final version.
SEGA Expands More Into Football Games
This is not SEGA’s only football game, though. They also have SEGA Pocket Club Manager, another mobile football title. That one recently got a J-League mode too, where users can start from the bottom league and try to rise up. SEGA clearly is focusing more on football genre lately, especially combining Japanese and global themes.
Summary
With Football Club Champions 2025, SEGA brings back an old favorite from Japan but adds new features and global access. It combines classic ideas with Football Manager mechanics, aiming to be deep but also more reachable. Now fans, especially who likes management football games, can wait for the beta and maybe try it early.
