PUBG Season 36 has started, and it’s bringing all sorts of updates, especially for players who focus on Ranked matches. The developers, Krafton, made some big decisions this time, changing how Ranked works, including how maps, points, and weapons operate. Here’s what we found out about this new season.
Ranked Mode Has Got Shook Up
The most obvious change, which not everyone might like, is how Ranked Mode got changed. A different point distribution is added now. The kills give more points depending on placement, which is good for aggressive people but may not always be fair for the cautious ones in PUBG.
They even reduced the entry cost for all tiers, maybe to encourage more people to try. And for those who leave too early or kills their own teammates—punishments are more strict now. Some might think it’s harsh, but maybe it was needed.
The ranking has been reset again, but not completely. A so-called “Rank Reset Lite” happened, which only dropped players down a bit from their last tier. So, not starting from scratch but still not staying up there.

Changes in Map Rotations
In Ranked, now only three maps staying: Erangel, Miramar and Taego. Sanhok and Vikendi got removed again, which maybe good or not depending who you ask. The goal, they said, is more balance and faster queuing.
Small changes to terrain and loot spots have also happened, but casual and normal players won’t see much change—those maps stay the same for them.
Weapons and Other Tweaks
Weapons got also adjusted. MK12 now has more recoil, probably to make it less easy to spam. And UMP45, a favorite of some players, has slower bullets now. These might help balance close-range fights, but it could upset those who liked them how they were.
The Emergency Pickup item no longer appears in Ranked, which Krafton said was giving too much advantages, especially late game. Some peoples might miss it though.
Rewards and Leaderboards Update
The new season gives special rewards for people who ranks high—parachutes, title plates, and even animated things. The leaderboards now refreshing weekly, which could be good for keeping motivation but also can get tiring.
The top 500 players will get a badge, showing they are better than others. How useful it is, remains to be seen.
Final Thoughts on PUBG Season 36
PUBG Season 36 brings a lot of shifting in the Ranked scene. Some changes feel good, others are not so sure. If you play seriously or with friends, then you probably already started grinding. The updates are out now for both PC and console, so time to see how it really plays out.
