If you’re an avid fan of the Assassin’s Creed series, rejoice – a new game is allegedly in development. A new YouTube video from j0nathan claims that a game called Assassin’s Creed Mirage is currently being made and is planned to come out in Spring 2023. The story takes place in Baghdad near the end of the 19th century, and it sounds like it will be simpler than other recent games in the series without any sort of leveling-up system.
Some of the information about the game, according to well-known video game journalist Jason Schreier, is accurate.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage Coming In 2023
According to the leak, players will control Basim in his youth as he arrives at the Hidden Ones. The game is said to get rid of dialogue choices and the ability for players to select a gender.
In addition to the Constantinople DLC, the season pass for Mirage will apparently include a remake of 2007’s Assassin’s Creed, as Ubisoft looks to return to the series’ roots.
AcesoGame, a reliable leaker for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, reports that the next game in the series is titled “Kingdom” and will take place during China’s Ming dynasty. If true, this would be a noticeable departure from past games’ European settings and would be the first time an Assassin’s Creed game is set in Asia.
Another reputable Assassin’s Creed insider, Daniel Ahmad, has confirmed the news, tweeting that he had “heard rumblings” about the game being set in China. He also stated that this would make sense from a business standpoint because Ubisoft has been attempting to increase its presence in Asia for some time.
Rumor Spreading
Although these speculations could be wrong, they do correlate with some of Ubisoft’s past statements about the future of Assassin’s Creed. For example, in an earnings call last year, CEO Yves Guillemot said that the company was hoping to take the franchise “in new directions.” Therefore, Ubisoft may be planning to veer away from traditional European and Middle Eastern locations featured in earlier games.
Rumor has it that the next Assassin’s Creed game will diverge from the franchise’s single-era focus and be set in multiple time periods instead.
Although we can’t know for sure what Ubisoft has in store, it’s obvious that the future of Assassin’s Creed is bright. These speculations and rumors give us a lot to look forward to in the next few years of the series.
The wait is over. It’s been nearly six years since the release of Assassin’s Creed III, and players are eager for a new game. With each passing year, the speculations and rumors about the next iteration in the series intensify.
The upcoming installment will purportedly depart from the franchise’s long-standing focus on a particular historical period and instead explore several periods simultaneously.
If this were to happen, it would mark a change in the franchise’s direction while also giving rise to endless new stories and worlds for Ubisoft to explore. They could touch on both familiar historical settings as well as entirely new periods of time.
Of course, we can’t be certain that this is what the next Assassin’s Creed game will entail. However, even if it strays from AC’s tried-and-true formula, it would definitely make for an intriguing addition to the series.
