Sony have recently showed off a new indie game, and itβs not something people expected. Called Mukti, the game is made by Underdogs Studio, a small team from India. It was revealed during Sonyβs indie showcase event and quickly got attention. Itβs not a usual type of game, but rather one that tells emotional stories and focuses on something real. A game that you donβt just play, but you feel it.
The Story and What It Tries To Do
Mukti means “freedom” in Hindi language. The game takes place inside a museum that is fictional, but filled with items and stories from people who was victims of human trafficking. Players walk through the museum, learning bit by bit about different lives and what happened to them.
Itβs not a game with shooting or action β itβs more slow and thoughtful. The team said they were inspired by real events and stories they read. So they wanted to do something meaningful, that maybe could make players think different. And even though itβs not easy topic, they tried to handle it with respect.

Art That Feels Alive and Deep
One thing that people talk about Mukti a lot is how it looks. Itβs full of designs and art from Indian culture β like architecture from old temples, and decorations from different regions. Each room feels like a part of India, which makes the world feel more alive and real. You can see that the team really put effort into getting those small things right.
The sound design is also strong. They use Indian musical instruments like sitar and flute, and it mixes well with the atmosphere. The voice acting is also done nicely, with Indian accents that donβt feel fake. It all creates a mood that stays with you.

From Small Start to Sonyβs Stage
Underdogs Studio didnβt had much when they started. A few people with passion, some laptops, and an idea. For a long time they worked without knowing if it would go anywhere. But then they got noticed, received some small funds, and after that, Sony came in with more support.
Itβs not every day a game from India is put on the global stage like this. Sony putting trust in them is a big deal. Itβs a sign that the gaming world is maybe changing, becoming more open to new voices.
Early Reactions and Whatβs Coming Next
So far, people who tried the demo of Mukti are saying good things. Many praised the visuals and the heavy theme. Some said itβs not perfect, maybe a bit slow, but they appreciated what the game tried to say. The full release is planned for late 2025, on PS5 and PC.
Mukti is not like most other games. Itβs quiet, sad, thoughtful. Itβs not made to entertain only, but also to show a truth. Maybe thatβs why itβs special β not because itβs the biggest or most advanced game, but because it dares to be honest.
